Make Your Job a Testimony for Jesus

Bill Keller wrote a devotional today that I recommend to
you for your consideration. It has food for thought. He
has given me permission to copy his e-mails, and I'm sure
he would be happy if
you would share this with people you
know as well.

Many people are dissatisfied with their jobs and wish
they could be in glamour roles like television stars,
popular singers or other kinds of celebrities. God wants
you to witness for Him where you are. It's the ultimate
chance to appear in a starring role!

I would like personally thank Jesus for healing my ailing
right shoulder that has been very painful for 18 months.
I was scheduled to go the doctor on Monday, but on Sunday
I listened to two healing services . . . and during the
prayer for healing in the second one my pain, stiffness
and loss of movement all disappeared. Thank you, Jesus!

Since then, I had a dream in which I finally realized
how I had hurt my shoulder . . . so now I won't repeat
that mistake. Thank you, Jesus!

Please read on.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL SATURDAY JUNE 10, 2006
(Colossians 3:23)

***NEED A JOB? Last Thursday on the TV program, I spent
the hour specifically praying for people who needed a job.
I know today, many of you are in that situation. I want
you to know that I will be praying for you today for God
to open the right doors for you and that you will be
working soon. God is able!

Praise Report: "I wrote to you twice about my problem with
finding a job. It's been about 3 months since I asked for
your prayers. I must be honest I got discouraged, but God
does His works in his own time. Yesterday I got
confirmation that i would began working for the government
come July 1, 2006. GOD not only provided me with a job but
with a career. All I can do is thank Him. I would also like
to thank you for your prayers."

Where you work is no accident or coincidence. I know from
the emails that I get, many people go to work each day in
absolutely wicked places. I am amazed at the level of evil
so many face each day from customers, co-workers, and
bosses. Many who openly profess Christ as their Savior
endure persecution at work for their faith.

For those of you who go to work each day in a hostile work
environment, where people come against you, many simply
because you are a Christian, I want you to know that it is
NO ACCIDENT OR COINCIDENCE you work where you do. God has
put you there for a reason, to be HIS light in the
darkness.

As I have stated so many times, the child of God is
expected to live UP to the standards of God, not down to
the standards of this world. This world says to do as
little as possible to get by. On your job, do what you
have to do, nothing more. God says that you are to do
your very best, work with all of your heart to please the
Lord, not man.

Even though you may work for your boss, you are actually
working for THE BOSS! God doesn't expect you to do what
you can't do, only your very best at what you can do.
Those who know the Lord should always be the best workers,
since we understand we are working for the Lord, not man.

Never forget, we have the largest percentage of two full
generations that has never been to church. YOU ARE THE
ONLY BIBLE MANY OF THOSE YOU ARE IN CONTACT WITH EACH DAY
AT YOUR JOB WILL EVER READ! Our greatest testimony to
those God has put in our life is not what we say, but how
we live our life each day! I guarantee you, people notice!

Let me tell you what the big picture strategy of Liveprayer
is. It is a very simple plan. Use the Internet, secular
TV and radio, and advertising, to let people know when they
are hurting, looking for answers, there is a place they can
come. You see, I understand that EVERYONE deals with the
same issues in life like finances, health, death,
relationships, careers, and addictions.

I simply want to be there, visible and accessible so that
when they face these issues, they know there is a place to
come to find strength and hope. That is why God has you
working where you are. To be that bright light, so when
those you come in contact with each day are hurting,
looking for strength and hope, they know they can come to
you.

That is when you can share with them the fact that Jesus
is their only real hope. In the midst of their struggles,
He is the ONLY answer. It is at those times when God can
use you as an instrument to help those who are hurting
find strength in Christ and peace that only God can give.
THAT IS WHY YOU ARE WORKING WHERE YOU ARE!

I love you and care about you so much. I realize that
many of you face incredible challenges each day on your
job. I will be praying today that God will encourage you
and help you to see that you are not at that job just for
a paycheck, but He has placed you there to be a witness
for Him to those you come in contact with each day.

Take time before you go to work to pray for God to help
you to do your very best in your job that day, working as
unto the Lord, not man as a testimony to those you work
with. Also, pray that God will let your light shine
bright so that those who may be hurting, will come to you
with their problems and give you the opportunity to pray
for them and share with them the hope and love of Jesus.

I pray that you will never look at your job as just a way
to earn a paycheck again, but look at it for what it really
is, A MINISTRY. All of God's children are called to serve
Him. Realize that you serve Him every day when you go to
work, since it is no accident or coincidence you work where
you do. GOD PUT YOU THERE!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

DAILY DEVOTIONAL WEDNESDAY JUNE 7, 2006
( Matthew 19:16-22 )

(16) Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what
good thing must I do to get eternal life?"

(17)"Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied.
"There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life,
obey the commandments."

(18)"Which ones?" the man inquired. Jesus replied, " 'Do
not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not
give false testimony,

(19)honor your father and mother,'and 'love your neighbor
as yourself.'"

(20)"All these I have kept," the young man said. "What do
I still lack?"

(21)Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell
your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have
treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

(22)When the young man heard this, he went away sad,
because he had great wealth. (Matthew 19:16-22 NIV)

When we encounter Christ, what do we do? Today's passage
of Scripture is that powerful story of the rich young
ruler. It is a story I have incorporated into my personal
testimony that I have shared with millions over the past
16 years through live appearances, television and radio
broadcasts, print interviews, and over the Internet. What
makes this encounter between the rich young ruler and
Jesus so moving is that it does not have a happy ending.
When forced to choose between Jesus and the world, sadly,
this rich young ruler chose the world. Today, many of you
are being confronted by Jesus, and just like this rich
young ruler, you have to choose. Jesus, or this world.

The encounter between this rich young ruler and Jesus is
the same encounter people have with Christ everyday. No
doubt this was a man who was very successful by the
world's standards. He had all you could ever want in this
life. However, deep down, he knew something was missing
in his life. He had obviously heard about this teacher
named Jesus and approached Him one day, asking the Lord
what good deeds he must do to receive everlasting life.
This makes sense since successful people are usually very
goal oriented. They are used to performing. So it only
makes sense that even in spiritual matters, they are
looking for the bottom line, what do they have to do to
succeed.

This is why a cult like Scientology flourishes and appeals
to successful people, especially people in the
entertainment industry. It is a cult strictly based on
works and money. Successful people are used to buying
their way into the best clubs, the best restaurants,
buying the best cars, the best homes, the best of whatever
this world has to offer. They understand the mentality of
work hard, achieve a goal, and purchase whatever you want.
So when it comes to the spiritual side of their life, they
are ripe candidates for a lie from the pits of hell like
Scientology that tells a person that with enough good works
and enough money, they are assured of being part of the
spiritual elite, just like they are part of the elite in
this life.

Jesus shared with this rich young ruler some of the
commandments and the young ruler affirmed he had followed
those commandments. Then Jesus shared with this young man
the price of following Christ. He told this young ruler
to go sell all that he had, give it to the poor and then
come follow Him. Now I have heard many people over the
years incorrectly use this passage of Scripture as an
indictment against having wealth. That is NOT what Jesus
was saying. Christ in His omniscience knew that as long
as this rich young ruler had all of his possessions, he
would never put Jesus first in his life.

You see my friend, when you have been blessed with lots of
material possessions, lots of money, the trap so many fall
into is thinking they are sufficient unto themselves, that
they don't need anyone else, even God. When you have the
ability to do whatever you want, go wherever you want to
go, buy whatever you want to buy, you get the false sense
that you are in control. While having money and
possessions does give you a certain amount of control over
your life, there is still so much that you are NOT in
control of and never will be. Your faith and trust is in
yourself and in your money, not in God. In most cases, it
is not even the money as much as it is the power, the ego,
the pride that comes with having wealth and possessions.
Those things are actually more difficult to let go of than
the money.

The sad ending of this encounter comes in the 22nd verse
when the Bible says, "he went away sad." The bottom line,
He rejected Christ and chose the world. When it came time
to make his choice, he chose his money and possessions
over Jesus. This story is personal to me because there
were many times, not just once, during the decade of my
life that I was running from God and enjoying all of the
success this world could offer, when I had this same
encounter with the Lord. In my case, He was not even
saying sell all I had. He was simply saying, leave the
business world and come and follow me. Time after time,
Christ gave me the opportunity to turn from the things of
the world and surrender my life to Him. Time after time,
I chose the world over following the Lord.

I was blessed that God loved me enough to allow things to
happen in my life that caused me to finally surrender to
Him. Sadly, it took losing everything, including my
freedom for that to happen. How much easier my life would
have been if I had only listened to the Lord earlier. A
short version of my testimony is on my website at
www.liveprayer.com under Founder's Testimony. Also, here
is a link to a story done by a secular publication a year
ago that gives a very fair and detailed account of my
life, http://www.weeklyplanet.com/2003-12-04/cover.html .
We don't know whatever happened to the rich young ruler.
I pray that at some point before he died, he did make the
choice to follow Christ.

I love you and care about you so much. I know many of you
reading this today are like the rich young ruler. You
know deep down inside that something is missing from your
life. You have heard about Jesus. In many cases, you have
done your best to follow God's commandments but I am here
today to tell you that isn't enough. You see my friend,
you will never be good enough to earn everlasting life, that
is God's gift to you. You can't earn it, you can't buy it,
it is only available by faith in His Son Jesus Christ.
When you ask Christ into your heart and life by faith, you
are surrendering your life to Him. The Bible proclaims that
it is no longer your life, but His. He gave His life in
payment for your sins, and you in turn give your life to
Him.

Like the rich young ruler, like Bill Keller many times,
you can choose to reject Christ and hold onto your life.
But think about it, what are you holding onto? The reality
is, your life will be over one day, sooner than you think.
At that point you will pass from this short journey into
eternity and those who don't know Christ as their Savior
will spend that eternity forever separated from God your
Creator. What you do when you reject Christ is forfeit
the treasure of eternal life with Christ for a few days
of whatever scraps this world can offer. Clearly not a
wise choice.

Today, you are having an encounter with Jesus just like
that rich young ruler did we read about in Matthew 19.
You have a choice to make today, since the Bible
proclaims "today is the day of salvation." Will you
choose Jesus, or go away sad. If you want to choose Jesus
today, pray and ask God to open your heart, then read the
words at: www.liveprayer.com/bdy_salvatn.html .

Minister to Others Like Jesus Did

Bill Keller wrote a devotional today that I recommend to
you for your consideration. It has food for thought. He
has given me permission to copy his e-mails, and I'm sure
he would be happy if
you would share this with people you
know as well.

After we know Jesus, it's natural to want to emulate His
wonderful example. Obviously, we cannot do so much but
we can do our best. Here are helpful thoughts about how
to do so.

I would like personally thank Jesus for healing my ailing
right shoulder that has been very painful for 18 months.
I was scheduled to go the doctor yesterday, but on Sunday
I listened to two healing services . . . and during the
prayer for healing in the second one my pain, stiffness
and loss of movement all disappeared. Thank you, Jesus!

Please read on.

*********************************************

DAILY DEVOTIONAL TUESDAY JUNE 6, 2006
( Matthew 9:36, 20:28, 2 Corinthians 4:2, 6:4,
1 Thessalonians 2:4, 5:14 )

Why so much ministry has become "one way." During my
"Arabian desert" experience from 1990-1992 as God was re-
working me, molding me into the man He wanted me to be, I
as immersed in the study of God's Word for 12-16 hours
every single day. I literally spent thousands of hours
studying the life of Jesus in the Gospels, reading about
His every move, paying close attention to how Jesus
conducted His business. After all, He was the only one
who lived this life perfectly. He is our example. He is
the one we follow and are to pattern our lives after. The
goal of every person who has accepted the Lord into their
heart and life by faith is to become more like Him each day.

One area of Christ's life that I studied endlessly was how
He ministered to others. If I was going to serve Him,
minister in His name, I wanted to minister to people the
way Jesus did. The first thing that stood out about the
way Jesus ministered was that He loved people, He had
great compassion for them. You can literally feel His
love for people as He ministered to their needs, no matter
what those needs were. The second thing that stood out to
me was that Jesus cared enough about people to tell them
the truth. Even when it was not what they wanted to hear,
even if His words hurt their feelings, Jesus loved people
enough to tell them the truth.

The last thing that stood out was how ACCESSIBLE Jesus was
to the people. How could you seriously minister to someone's
hurts and pains without having some interaction with that
person? How could you effectively help someone through their
struggles from a distance? Jesus got involved in people's
lives! Yes, there were those times when He spoke to large
crowds like when he gave the "Sermon on the Mount," but for
the most part, Christ's earthly ministry was one on one or
to small groups of people. Jesus understood that to
effectively minister to people's needs, He had to be
accessible to the people and he had to be involved in their
lives. Sadly today, so much ministry is conducted "one way."

In the 16 years now since I have been in full-time ministry,
I have always done my best to follow the example of Christ
and make myself accessible and available to the people who
I was reaching out to. Without a doubt the biggest hurdle
to overcome in any sort of media ministry, whether it be
on the Internet, TV, radio, or film, through music, or in
books and magazines, is to be accessible and minister to the
needs of each individual you are reaching. This has also
become a big problem in the new "mega-churches" where you
have thousands and thousands of people in the congregation.
People need someone to minister to them when they are
hurting and need counsel and prayer.

That is why the commitment was made day one when
Liveprayer started nearly 7 years ago that every email for
prayer would be responded to. That was not such a hard
commitment to keep in the first days when there were only
a few dozen, but as Liveprayer has grown and there are now
over 40,000 prayer requests daily, we have worked hard to
keep that commitment and make sure each email for prayer
receives a personal response. TV is a very difficult
medium to make interactive since it is designed for one-
way communication. However, through our existing Internet
infrastructure, we have been able through email to make
the TV program VERY interactive and accessible to
anyone who watches.

Yes, Liveprayer reaches over 2-million people daily
through the Internet, yes, Liveprayer reaches over 1/4
million people 5 nights a week on the TV program, but we
have done our very best to insure that any person we
reach has a way of communicating with us and most
important, that we can communicate BACK to them and
minister to their individual needs. I never forget for a
second that each person who receives the Daily Devotional,
I never forget for a second that each person who watches
the TV program is a unique and special person that Jesus
loves and died for. Out of the billions of people on
this planet, it is no accident that God allowed them to
read that message or watch that program, and as they reach
out for help it is my responsibility to be there for them
and make sure they know they are loved!

I love you and care about you so much. The one thing that
I thank God for each day is for a new heart that truly
loves and cares for people. There is no way that I could
do what I do 7 days a week otherwise. I can honestly say
that I have not always had such a heart, and even now am
often selfish and need to work on being more loving and
compassionate towards others. But deep down, God has given
me a desire to help those who are hurting and facing the
trials and tribulations we all go through during our brief
journey through this life. I have no doubt that the number
one job God has called me to do is to share His Truth and
be there for those that are lost, hurting, and looking for
answers and hope in their life.

That is why I am driven to reach more people every day
through the Daily Devotional and the TV program. It
doesn't equate to more money coming in as it would in a
business. As a matter of fact it equates to more money
going out since we have to pay to reach out to those we
do and then bear the expenses to follow up and minister
to them. However, there are billions of people living
today without the hope of Christ. Billions of people
hurting as they make their way through this life. It is
my prayer daily for God to continue to give me the
resources and ability to reach as many of those people
as possible since I have the answer they are looking for,
the hope they desire...JESUS CHRIST!

As impersonal as the Internet and TV can be, I will keep
doing all I can to insure that Liveprayer is a very
personal experience for each person we minister to. What
has set this ministry apart from anyone else on the
Internet or on TV is that we just don't minister to people
"one way," but have made ourselves accessible so that
those who are hurting, those who need God's touch in their
life, know there is a place to come where they will be
prayed for and receive a personal response to guide them,
encourage them, and walk with them.

One reason why I still answer app. 300 emails at random
every day is because I never want to lose sight of what I
am here for, and that is to minister to the needs of the
dear people we reach each day through the Internet and
on TV. The day I am too busy to minister to someone who
is hurting, too important to reach out to someone who
needs Christ's love and hope, that is the day I need to
leave the ministry and go do something else. God has
called me to serve others, not have others serve me. I
am grateful every day for God's grace and mercy in my
life. He never gave up on me even though I turned my
back on Him. I am honored that He allows me the
privilege to serve Him, and try my best each day to
bring honor and glory to His name through my life.

I am praying for you today my friend. Praying for God's
blessings in your life and His strength as you faithfully
follow Him. Please know that when you come to those
rough places in life we all come to at times, I will be
here for you. Never hesitate to email me at
bkeller@liveprayer.com any time I can help you in any way.
God has blessed me with the privilege of sharing His Truth
with you each day, to encourage you in your relationship
with Him, and to be here to pray with you and for you in
your time of need. Jesus ministered in a very personal
way to the needs of those He reached. I will continue to
do my best to follow His example.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

Marital Vows--Part Two--

Bill Keller wrote a devotional today that I
recommend to you for your consideration. It has food for
thought. He has given me permission to copy his e-mails,
and I'm sure he would be happy if
you would share this
with people you know as well.

What does God want us to do in our marriages? Clearly,
it's something different from what occurs in most
marriages.

Please read on.

*********************************************

DAILY DEVOTIONAL SUNDAY JUNE 4, 2006
( Malachi 2:16, Matthew 19:8 )

Part Two of Two

"For better, for worse." Divorce is not part of God's
plan for marriage. As you can imagine, one of the
issues I get thousands of prayer requests about every
day is divorce. Well over 50% of marriages end in
divorce, and sadly that percentage is no different for
people who are in the church. There is so much weak and
watered down teaching on this issue that involves well
over 1/2 of the people in our society that I want to
deal with the key points today.

The most important thing to understand about divorce is
that it was never, is not now, nor ever will be part of
God's plan for marriage. God clearly expresses His
feelings on divorce in Malachi 2:16 by simply stating
that "He hates divorce." Divorce is a sin, period. The
biggest misconception about divorce comes from the poor
teaching that there are Biblical reasons for divorce.
This is mainly due to a misunderstanding of the passages
in Matthew chapters 5 and 19 where it appears like
adultery is a legitimate reason to get divorced.

Let me say this as clear and concise as I can. There are
NO, ZERO, NADA reasons for divorce. Marriage is a
LIFETIME commitment. I have performed dozens of weddings
over my years in the ministry and have never yet said
"till death do us part... unless." There are no
"unlesses" in the marriage vows you make to your spouse
and to God. The exception for adultery is NOT from God,
it is an exception from man. It comes from the Jewish
laws of marriage and divorcement and is a MAN-MADE reason
for divorce.

One of the sad issues many men and women face in marriage
is abuse. Physical, verbal, emotional, mental, and sexual
are all forms of abuse. Let me be clear on this. God DOES
NOT expect a person to stay in a living environment where
they are being abused in any way. That is never His plan
for people to live their lives under those conditions. I
counsel people daily in abusive situations to leave the
home and separate. Note that I said separate, NOT divorce.
Also, I do not recommend that anyone who has had to
separate due to abuse of any kind, goes back until their
spouse has received professional help and is living a
committed life for Christ. Unless Jesus transforms their
life, they will never change.

I have made it so clear in past Devotionals how serious
the decision to get married is. It is for LIFE. The vow
is "for better or for worse." You are making a lifetime
commitment to this other person and to God. That is why
I encourage you to take it slow when you are in a
relationship that may lead to marriage. Don't rush into
anything. First of all, don't ignore God's warning in
2 Corinthians 6:14 by getting involved with a non-
Christian. Take the time to build a spiritual foundation
to your relationship. Get to know the other person over
TIME. So many of the problems I see each day in marriages
could have been avoided if people would have only been
patient and taken the time to get to know their spouse
BEFORE they got married.

I am well aware that this does not insure you will have
a perfect marriage. People make choices every day.
Sadly, even people who know the Lord make the choice each
day to live in rebellion to God. You are NOT responsible
for the choices your spouse makes if at some point in
your marriage they choose to rebel against God. However,
you can be much more assured of who your spouse is if you
are patient and build a spiritual foundation to your
relationship prior to getting married.

The other issue I want to address is getting married
again after you have been divorced. Please understand
that if you are divorced, you are single and free to
marry anyone else who is single. Again, the passage that
talks about a person committing adultery if you get
remarried after a divorce is tied into the Jewish laws of
marriage and divorcement. The fact is, if you are
divorced you have sinned against God since in a divorce
BOTH parties have to bear the responsibility regardless
of the circumstances. The key is to repent, ask God to
forgive you, and stand on His promise in 1 John 1:9 that
you ARE forgiven. You are then free to remarry. God is
a God of the second chance!

The biggest mistake I see people making every day is
getting divorced and before the ink is even dry on the
divorce papers, even before in many cases, involved in
another relationship. Please listen to me carefully. A
divorce is no different than if someone takes a butcher
knife and cuts a 12" gash into your chest. It is a
SERIOUS wound that needs time, often lots of time, to heal.
Getting involved in another relationship is the most
foolish thing anyone who has just gone through the pain of
a divorce can do. You are NOT ready for it emotionally or
spiritually! Please, take time to heal and spend time
with the Lord before you even consider getting involved in
another relationship.

I love you and care about you so much. My heart breaks
today knowing how many people are living each day in a
difficult marriage. I will be praying for you. If you
are having problems in your marriage, please know that
God is your hope and strength. He is still a God that
changes lives and can bring healing and restoration to
your marriage. I will be praying today for those
marriages that are in trouble, believing God to make your
marriage whole.

For those who have been through the pain of divorce, I
will be praying for you as well. I went through a divorce
early in my life when I was away from the Lord so I
understand what that pain is. God loves you very much
and if you will simply ask His forgiveness, He will
forgive you for the sin of divorce. God still has much
for you to do with the rest of your life as well as many
blessings for you to enjoy. I will pray today that in
His perfect timing, He will bring into your life a Godly
man or woman to share the rest of your journey with in
His Holy Institution of Marriage, for better, for worse!
