God's Purpose in Your Workplace

Good morning, Happy Souls!

Bill Keller wrote a wonderful devotional today
that I highly recommend to you. He has given
me permission to copy his e-mails, and I'm sure
he would be happy if you would share this with
people you know as well.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL SATURDAY DECEMBER 17, 2005
(Colossians 3:23)

***CHRISTMAS PASSAGE: In those days Caesar
Augustus issued a decree that a census should be
taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the
first census that took place while Quirinius was
governor of Syria.) And everyone went to his own
town to register. (Luke 2:1-3)

Where you work is no accident or coincidence. I
know from the emails that I get, many people go to
work each day in absolutely wicked places. I am
amazed at the level of evil so many face each day
from customers, co-workers, and bosses. Many who
openly profess Christ as their Savior endure
persecution at work for their faith.

For those of you who go to work each day in a
hostile work environment, where people come against
you, many simply because you are a Christian, I
want you to know that it is NO ACCIDENT OR
COINCIDENCE you work where you do. God has put you
there for a reason, to be HIS light in the darkness.

As I have stated so many times, the child of God is
expected to live UP to the standards of God, not
down to the standards of this world. This world
says to do as little as possible to get by. On your
job, do what you have to do, nothing more. God says
that you are to do your very best, work with all of
your heart to please the Lord, not man.

Even though you may work for your boss, you are
actually working for THE BOSS! God doesn't expect
you to do what you can't do, only your very best
at what you can do. Those who know the Lord should
always be the best workers, since we understand we
are working for the Lord, not man.

Never forget, we have the largest percentage of two
full generations that has never been to church.
YOU ARE THE ONLY BIBLE MANY OF THOSE YOU ARE IN
CONTACT WITH EACH DAY AT YOUR JOB WILL EVER READ!
Our greatest testimony to those God has put in our
life is not what we say, but how we live our life
each day! I guarantee you, people notice!

Let me tell you what the big picture strategy of
Liveprayer is. It is a very simple plan. Use the
Internet, secular TV and radio, and advertising,
to let people know when they are hurting, looking
for answers, there is a place they can come. You
see, I understand that EVERYONE deals with the
same issues in life like finances, health, death,
relationships, careers, and addictions.

I simply want to be there, visible and accessible
so that when they face these issues, they know
there is a place to come to find strength and
hope. That is why God has you working where you
are. To be that bright light, so when those you
come in contact with each day are hurting, looking
for strength and hope, they know they can come to
you.

That is when you can share with them the fact that
Jesus is their only real hope. In the midst of
their struggles, He is the ONLY answer. It is at
those times when God can use you as an instrument
to help those who are hurting find strength in
Christ and peace that only God can give. THAT IS
WHY YOU ARE WORKING WHERE YOU ARE!

I love you and care about you so much. I realize
that many of you face incredible challenges each
day on your job. I will be praying today that
God will encourage you and help you to see that
you are not at that job just for a paycheck, but
He has placed you there to be a witness for Him to
those you come in contact with each day.

Take time before you go to work to pray for God to
help you to do your very best in your job that day,
working as unto the Lord, not man as a testimony
to those you work with. Also, pray that God will
let your light shine bright so that those who may
be hurting, will come to you with their problems
and give you the opportunity to pray for them and
share with them the hope and love of Jesus.

I pray that you will never look at your job as just
a way to earn a paycheck again, but look at it for
what it really is, A MINISTRY. All of God's
children are called to serve Him. Realize that you
serve Him every day when you go to work, since it
is no accident or coincidence you work where you
do. GOD PUT YOU THERE!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

DAILY DEVOTIONAL SUNDAY DECEMBER 11, 2005
(Galatians 5:1)

***CHRISTMAS PASSAGE: Mary was greatly troubled
at his words and wondered what kind of greeting
this might be. But the angel said to her, "Do not
be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God.
You will be with child and give birth to a son,
and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be
great and will be called the Son of the Most High.
The Lord God will give him the throne of his
father David, and he will reign over the house of
Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end."
(Luke 1:29-33)

Shopping can be an addiction. I have dealt many
times with addiction problems. Most think of
those fighting addictions as people who are prowling
around seedy adult sex shops late at night, meeting
scary people who have sold out to satan and sell
drugs, slipping into a neighborhood bar after work
and having your "normal" 4-5 drinks before going
home, just to mention a few.

In past Devotionals, I have tried to help you
understand that ANYTHING can be an addiction. One
of the most common battles many fight daily is an
addiction to food. But today, I want to expose
another addiction that MANY of you are battling each
day that is RARELY talked about, SHOPPING.

First, an addiction is something that consumes your
life. It takes over and becomes your number one
priority. It destroys your personal relationships.
Worst of all, it destroys your relationship with
God. Whenever you allow ANYTHING to take over your
life to the point that it is interfering with your
walk with God, when God is no longer your number one
priority, IT IS A SIN. It is something that you
must deal with immediately before it totally
destroys your life.

Shopping is legal. It is not like doing cocaine
which is not. Shopping is actually a necessary part
of life, just like eating is. However, many have
found their "escape" in shopping. Just like some
will come home and have 2..3..4..5..6..drinks in the
evening to "escape," many will shop to escape. One
of the growing problems that I have had to deal with
over these past 6 years is the number of people who
are addicted to Home Shopping and other 24-hour TV
shopping channels.

I am NOT going to sit here and tell you that they
are evil, that they equate with TV pornography, that
is clearly NOT the case. However, for many, the
addiction is just as real, and just as powerful, as
someone who sits at home and watches pornography on
their TV. It is an "escape" from reality.

The worst thing about "escapes" is that they ALWAYS
compound the problems that a person is "escaping"
from. People spend thousands on pornography, catch
sexually transmitted diseases, get caught and
destroy their marriages and families. People who
use drugs and alcohol not only pay a huge price by
driving under the influence, but they are destroying
their health, and numbing themselves from being able
to function at 100% efficiency in their daily lives.
Those who are addicted to shopping ultimately end up
spending thousands, tens of thousands, even hundreds
of thousands of dollars, and in many cases destroy
their finances over this addiction. THERE IS ALWAYS
A HUGE PRICE TO PAY WHEN YOU TRY TO "ESCAPE!!!"

I love you and care about you so much. Sadly, this
is a HUGE issue that many are fighting today.
Please know that I will be praying for you in this
battle. Like ALL addiction battles, you can only
attain victory after you first turn it over to the
Lord. God will help you devise a battle plan, God
will give you people that will walk through this
with you to hold you accountable, and most of all,
God will give you the strength each day to walk
victoriously. This has been one of those silent
issues that few will ever talk about, but it is
time to pull back the curtain and expose this
problem that many are fighting today. Above all,
know that God loves you, and that God will lead
you to victory when YOU are ready to fight this
battle.

The key however is that first step. I don't care
what your battle is. Whether it is with drugs,
alcohol, sex, food, OR SHOPPING. The first step
is for you to admit that you have a problem.
Being addicted to shopping is no different than
any other addiction. You have to admit that this
is a problem in your life and ask God to help you
get victory over it. Please know that I will be
praying for you today. I will be praying that God
will not only give you the courage to admit this
problem in your life, but that you will allow Him
to guide you to victory. Never forget, with God
...ALL THINGS...are possible. Even victory over
an addiction to shopping.

***GOD MAY BE SPEAKING TO YOU TODAY. THIS IS NOT
AN ISSUE THAT YOU WILL EVER HEAR AT CHURCH, BUT
YOU KNOW HOW DESTRUCTIVE IT IS IN YOUR LIFE.
ACCEPT THAT GOD IS SPEAKING DIRECTLY TO YOU,
TELLING YOU THAT THESE ARE WORDS OF LOVE, THAT HE
KNOWS THE PAIN YOU ARE IN OVER THIS ISSUE.

TODAY, NOW, IS THE TIME TO GO TO YOUR KNEES, ASK
HIS FORGIVENESS, AND GET SERIOUS ABOUT GETTING
VICTORY OVER THIS PROBLEM IN YOUR LIFE. GOD WILL
GIVE YOU THE STRENGTH, AND I WILL BE STANDING
WITH YOU IN PRAYER. MAY YOU BE FREE OF THIS
BONDAGE IN YOUR LIFE, IN THE NAME OF JESUS!!!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

Give Spiritual Gifts

Good morning, Happy Souls!

Are you feeling motivated this morning? I certainly hope so. I know that I am!

When the subject of spiritual gifts comes up, most people think in terms of receiving spiritual gifts. That's a good place to start. If you think about the spiritual gifts others have given you that mattered most, you'll have great ideas for what to give to others.

I'll never forget the first time a doctor took the time to stop and pray with me for my recovery. I was tremendously surprised and happy to have spiritual as well as temporal assistance. But it's been a long time since a doctor prayed for my recovery while he or she was with me. I miss that.

Years later, my wife and I bought an encyclopedia for our older daughter from the father of a friend. Every year after that I would bump into the father and he would tell me that he prayed for us every day. That felt great!

Consider giving the gift of prayer to others . . . and let them know you are praying for them!

After I recovered from my illness I described earlier, my doctor inquired about my religious beliefs. Finding that I was not as clear as I might have been he brought me little essays to read and discussed them with me. After I recovered, he took me to a tent revival to hear a great preacher. It was a wonderful fun! When I tried to thank him, he reminded me that the inspiration was coming from the Holy Spirit and not from him. That humility helped me better understand Divine inspiration and encouraged me to connect my faith to God . . . and not to my doctor. Very nice!

Ask people about their religious beliefs and help them to learn more about their faith.

I travel a great deal in my life as a dream concierge and as a consultant. Sometimes I have the good fortune to be invited to attend religious services and classes with the people I am visiting. I can always see that part of the inspiration to make these invitations is because the church or other house of worship they attend is a very devout and well conducted affair. I enjoy the fellowship of attending with them and seeing other ways to worship and understand God. It's much nicer than being taken out to dinner.

Invite someone to go to church or your house of worship with you.

Many people are better students of the Bible than I am. They have a wonderful ability to recall stories and parables from the Bible that indicate the spiritual answer to some challenging situation that occurs. I am always delighted when such a knowledgeable person takes the time to tell me the story, send me an e-mail about the story or to give me a telephone call and mention the story.

Share the Bible's wisdom with those who are facing life's challenges.

To me, one of the great spiritual gifts is to consider the life of Jesus. Although many aspire to walk in His footsteps, none completely succeed. But it's wonderfully uplifting to meet someone who is attempting to be like our Lord. With such a role model present, it becomes easier to be a good Christian oneself.

Be like our Savior to be a role model for others.

The finest examples I see are those who go the extra mile . . . or turn the other cheek . . . with a smile and without complaining.

Give yourself the gift of walking the extra mile or turning the other cheek with a smile on your face and in your heart!

We all need forgiveness. We all receive forgiveness that we don't feel we deserve . . . but God grants that to us when we ask for it. God also wants us to forgive others.

Forgive someone today. Let them know you forgive them . . . and that you want to have a warm, friendly relationship with them.

Could a billionaire do better? I doubt it.

I think the most a billionaire could hope for is to do just as well. May God bless all billionaires as they give their spiritual gifts.
