Guidance for Giving Money to God

Good morning, Happy Souls!

Bill Keller wrote a devotional today that I
recommend to you. He has given me permission to
copy his e-mails, and I'm sure he would be happy if
you would share this with people you know as well.

Everything belongs to God. We are just stewards for
material possessions while we are alive. So what
material things should we give to God? And how much?

If you're like me, you hear conflicting messages on
this point. Wouldn't it be nice to hear a more
objective view?

Please read on.

*********************************************

DAILY DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY MAY 5, 2006
( Psalms 68:19, Matthew 6:33 )

Your blessings and prosperity are NOT determined by how
much money you give to some ministry. I feel like a
member of the mafia talking to the Feds about the
secrets of the "family business." For over 80 months I
have never held back the truth from you and won't start
today. I get inundated every day with emails from people
asking me to explain why they gave a certain amount of
money to some ministry they saw on television who preached
a message on how to get out of debt. They did what they
were told ( gave them $$$$ ) and they are still in debt.

Others were told to plant a seed and all their financial
problems would be solved. They planted the seed ( sent
them $$$ ) but still have the same financial problems.
Still others were told to take a stand of faith for their
child who was running from God. They took a stand (sent
in $$$ ) and their child is still on drugs and running
from God. People are confused, mad at God, feel like
they don't have enough faith because they do exactly
what they are told, send in $$$, yet nothing changes!

I have shared with you in the past messages on Biblical
giving, on giving without guilt, and how to give by faith.
It is not just those on TV and radio who pervert God's
Word to get people to give, but many churches also
manipulate their people by taking passages and stories in
the Bible totally out of context in order to induce people
to give. Today, I want to expose some of the spiritual
fraud that is being committed to drive giving, and once
again share with you the Biblical reasons and ways to give.

After over 16 years in the ministry, 4 of those years
heavily involved in the Christian television world, I
think I have seen about very game, trick, and gimmick
there is to get people to give. People who use a
certain Psalm to "open up God's blessings over your
finances," and if they use say Psalm 68 verse 19, then
tell you to write a check for $68.19 to their ministry
for the next 10-12 months. Those who take some of the
great accounts in the Bible where people acted on their
faith in God, and then tell you the way to exercise your
faith like the person in the Bible is to write them a
check.

Many who share perverted teachings from the Old Testament
on the various offerings to God, making the false leap
that you can make a corresponding offering to God by
writing a check to their ministry Some are so good they
can take ANY passage of Scripture and create a message
that ends with you sitting down and writing them a check.

The most egregious examples are those who preach a
prosperity message. I am not talking about the REAL
prosperity message of being a child of God. I am talking
about prosperity strictly from a dollars and cents
standpoint. Without saying it, the implication of these
messages are crystal clear. The more you give the more
God will bless you financially. It is a Christian Lotto
mentality that those who preach this perversion are more
than happy to encourage.

Those who preach this type of message will normally use
themselves as the examples of God's blessings. They will
tell you how they were just like you, poor, struggling,
making it from paycheck to paycheck. Then they will tell
you that by trusting God and giving God everything
( what money they had ) God began to bless them. It is
very misleading and a misrepresentation of God's
blessings when they tell you that if you will give them
everything you have, one day you will be prosperous like
they are. It is like the no-money down real estate
infomercial guys. They didn't get rich by selling real
estate, but by selling YOU!

The glaring hole in these false and perverted messages
that tie your blessings and prosperity to how much money
you give, is that you have to give to the person
delivering the message! They have set themselves up as
God's trustee for your blessings and prosperity. I guess
that means if you believe their message and choose to
give your gift to some other work of God you won't
receive the same blessings or be as prosperous.

The other glaring hole is what if you don't have anything
to give? Does that mean you don't qualify for God's
blessings? Does that mean you will never be prosperous?
Does that mean you have no faith? I guess God doesn't
love those who follow Jesus in India, or China, or
Africa, or in most places on this planet where people
have little if any material possessions. I guess that
means a man or woman in Texas who loves Jesus and is
serving Him each day but is living in a one-bedroom
apartment and driving a 20-year-old car have no faith.

Here is the problem with these messages that are designed
simply to raise money. They use some truth from God's
Word but pervert that truth by tying it all to how much
money you give. The Bible DOES teach us to have faith in
all things, including our finances. The Bible DOES teach
that God will bless us and prosper us as we are faithful,
and that includes being faithful with our finances. The
Bible also teaches us to be wise stewards of what God has
entrusted to our care.

ALL we have is from God, He has simply given us
stewardship over whatever resources we have during our
brief journey through this life. GOD DOESN'T NEED OUR
MONEY! We give to God as an act of worship. We give to
God as an act of obedience. We give to give as an act of
sacrifice. When you read the Bible, the giving of the
tenth or "tithe" in the Old Testament was part of the Old
Testament Law. We are no longer under the Old Testament
Law. 100%, not 10% of everything we have belongs to God.
So when we give, we are simply giving back to God what is
His already out of obedience and as an act of sacrifice
and worship!

The Bible teaches us to give according to our ability to
give. We are also taught to give cheerfully. Don't get
so legalistic in your giving that you lose the joy of
giving. I counsel people all the time to sit down with
God and decide how much you can give to His work each
week. Agree with God and than be faithful to give that
amount. As the Holy Spirit leads you, you may be led to
give over and above that amount to those works of God He
lays on your heart.

There will be times God challenges you to give
sacrificially, as an act of faith. Again, God will
prompt your heart on those occasions and those are
the opportunities in life to really take a stand of
faith and trust God. YOU DON'T MAKE THE SACRIFICE TO
GIVE BY FAITH EXPECTING ANYTHING IN RETURN. YOU MAKE THE
SACRIFICE TO GIVE BY FAITH TO SIMPLY BE OBEDIENT AND TO
PLEASE GOD!

I love you and care about you so much. Raising the funds
to be able to do God's work is necessary to exist.
Nobody understands that reality as much as I do. Sadly,
I have seen many ministries start out with the purest of
hearts and end up playing every game imaginable to raise
money. I have done my best to hold fast to the Biblical
approach to raising the funds we need to operate
Liveprayer. When God told Moses to build the Tabernacle,
when God told David to build the first Temple, they
simply shared with people the need and than trusted God
to move on people's hearts to provide what was needed.

That has been the way Liveprayer has raised our funds
since day #1 over 80 months ago. Share the need and trust
God. Guess what, God has always provided! No false hope,
no false promises, no twisting of Scriptures, no
manipulation, simply share the need and trust God to
provide. Will God bless you for giving to Liveprayer?
ABSOLUTELY, just like God will bless you for giving to
anyone who is truly doing His work. Never forget
however, God blesses us in MANY ways, not just financially.

I will be praying for you today. Our faith is measured
in MANY ways. Giving is simply one of those ways. Never
allow yourself to be manipulated or made to feel guilty
to give. God wants you to give with a cheerful heart as
an act of worship. Giving is simply another way we can
be obedient and express our love to the Lord for all He
has done for us. Never forget, God knows your motives
and He sees your heart. It is never the amount you give
that impresses God, it is the heart you give it with.

Your blessings and prosperity are NOT determined by how
much money you give to some ministry, but your obedience
and faithfulness to God. Your RICHEST blessings and
prosperity have nothing to do with money, they are the
peace, joy, and abundance of this life and the treasures
you are storing up in Heaven!!!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller

Be SURE and CERTAIN and ACT and God Will See You to It

Good morning, Happy Souls!

Bill Keller wrote a devotional today that I
recommend to you. He has given me permission to
copy his e-mails, and I'm sure he would be happy if

God has promised us that we can live our dreams.

Please read on.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL THURSDAY MAY 4, 2006
( Mark 9:23, Psalms 37:4 )

***NEVER SEEN THE LIVEPRAYER TV PROGRAM? GO WATCH THE
TUESDAY MAY 2ND PROGRAM NOW...THE CALLS WERE POWERFUL...
A SALVATION LIVE AS WELL AS A GREAT PRAISE REPORT!!! I
am excited to announce that the past several TV
programs will now be available for you to watch on the
Liveprayer.com website ON-DEMAND! If you have never
seen the program, or if you miss a night, you will now be
able to go to www.liveprayer.com and click on the
"LIVEPRAYER TELEVISION" icon on the bottom left of the
homepage ( www.liveprayer.com/lptv.cfm ) and watch the
most recent programs there.

Jesus said in Mark 9:23, "Everything is possible for him
who believes."

Don't dream it, DO IT! The Nike sporting goods company
used a very simple but powerful phrase in one of their
recent ad campaigns, "Just do it." This is going to be
a little different Devotional today. I want to take a
moment right now before you do anything else and simply
ask the Lord to open your heart to hear this message
today since it has to do with faith. Now, let me ask
you a question. What is something that you have always
dreamed of but have never done? Maybe it is to see a
certain place or do a certain thing. What is something
that you have always dreamed of but have never done?

The writer of Hebrews defines faith in Hebrews 11:1 as,
"now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain
of what we do not see." Note the key words in this
definition are SURE and CERTAIN. True Biblical faith is
not something we simply hope for, but we are SURE of what
we hope for. True Biblical faith is not just a blind leap
into the dark, we are CERTAIN of what we do not see. That
is why Jesus told us that, "EVERYTHING is possible for him
who believes." Not a few things, not certain things, not
most things...EVERYTHING!

Today, I want to challenge your faith and encourage you to
fulfill your dreams. As I share with you often, this
journey through life is very short. It is over before we
even know it. We know the Bible teaches us that tomorrow
is promised to none of us, that each day is literally a
gift from God. We must treat each day as the precious gift
it is and make the most of it. Too many people live their
lives in those "ruts." You get comfortable in making life
work for you on a daily basis and get locked into a
routine that you rarely if ever deviate from. You complain
how boring life is, how unexciting life is, when the
problem is not life but the way you choose to live it each
day!

Over these past 16 years, I have ministered to and walked
with hundreds of people from 10 to 97 in the final days
of their life. In almost every case the person shared
with me their regrets about things they had always wanted
to do but didn't, places they had always wanted to see but
never went. Now, in their final hours of this life they
felt bad for not having taken the time or made the effort
to see and do all of the things they had wanted to do.

Let me ask you again, what is something that you have
always dreamed of but have never done?

Here is my word for you today, my challenge. Sit down with
a paper and pen and answer the above question on the paper.
Write down what it is you have dreamed of but never done.
Maybe you always wanted to see the Great Wall of China.
Write it down. Maybe you have always wanted to learn how
to ride a horse. Write it down. There is not one person
reading these words today that doesn't have something you
have always wanted to do or some place you have always
wanted to visit. Everyone has a dream they have not seen
fulfilled.

After you have written down what it is you have always
dreamed of, take that paper and pray over it. Pray in
faith that God is going to let you see your dream come
true. God is not some magic genie in a lamp that we rub
and make wishes to. However, God is the One who promised
that, "everything is possible for him who believes."
God is the One who promised to, "give you the desires of
your heart." As a follower of Jesus Christ you have very
right to hold God to His promises. There is no dream that
is too big for God!!!

This journey through life is exciting, exhilarating, and
can be a wonderful experience. What I find in so many
lives I deal with each day is that they have allowed the
trials and tribulations of this life to overwhelm them
to the point they have stopped dreaming. They are simply
content with not living in turmoil and have forgot how to
dream, let alone believe their dreams can come true.

Your life, just like your relationship with the Lord will
be exactly what you choose it to be. We ALL have to face
the problems that life throws our way. That is simply
part of living in this sin-filled and fallen world.
There are always problems, things that don't go the way
we expect or like. The key is do you allow the problems
of life to choke off your joy? Do you allow the trials
you face to steal your peace. Do you allow the
challenges of life to rob you of the abundance Christ
promised you?

I love you and care about you so much. I want to encourage
you to start living each day in faith, the faith that
"everything is possible for him who believes." That
doesn't just mean being victorious over the day-to-day
trials of this life, but seeing your dreams fulfilled as
well. I want to encourage you today to take the piece of
paper you have written down whatever you have always
dreamed about and work to make your dream a reality! God
will help you.

Don't listen to the liar satan tell you don't have the
money, you don't have the time, it can't be done, or any
other lie he will tell you to discourage you. Who are
you going to believe, the liar who says your dream won't
come true or God who promised you that "everything is
possible?"

This message today is MUCH deeper than just challenging
you to make your dream come true. Once you do whatever
it is you have dreamed about, once you make that dream a
reality, you are going to want to make your next dream
come true. After you see that dream become a reality, you
will want to make the next dream come true. Over time, you
are not just living life, you are making the most of each
day and instead of simply dreaming, YOU ARE LIVING YOUR
DREAMS EACH DAY!

Jesus promised us, "Everything is possible for him who
believes." Don't dream it, DO IT!!!

Follow God's Plan (Not Your's) to Victory

Good morning, Happy Souls!

Bill Keller wrote a devotional today that I
recommend to you. He has given me permission to
copy his e-mails, and I'm sure he would be happy if
you would share this with people you know as well.

Talented people can make a mistake when they rely on
their own plans rather than God's. He can see
opportunities that we cannot even begin to conceive of.
Ask the Lord to lead you to victory . . . and the
victory will be yours!

Please read on.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL TUESDAY MAY 2, 2005
( Psalm 44:4-8 )

***I watched your show that night that you literally
saved that man's life who flat lined the day before from
his alcoholism or alcohol poisoning (that's what they do
to themselves), and he didn't even know his whereabouts
because he was still drinking. He knew he was in a Motel
Room and that was it. Drinking to this man meant life or
death. Thank the Lord this man called you that night and
that he got through the phone lines (as hard as it is to
do that!!!) to tell you the little bit of the story that
he could remember. You handled him so well and asked him
the precise questions that would make him want to live and
see the value in his life. You prayed with him for his
salvation and that was 'the most moving moment I have ever
witnessed on your show.' I broke down in complete tears
through the entire thing. What a miracle that was, how
lucky that man was to have had the capability to call your
show in the condition he was in, but that is not luck that
was God's will, it had to be! I was blown away."

***WORLDNETDAILY ARTICLE ON LIVEPRAYER:
http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=49936

***THE HOLY SPIRIT TOLD ME THAT TODAY, YOU NEED A WORD OF
ENCOURAGEMENT, A WORD OF HOPE. NO MATTER WHAT BATTLES
YOU ARE FACING IN YOUR LIFE TODAY, BE PREPARED FOR
VICTORY!!!

"You are my King and my God, who decrees victories for
Jacob. Through you we push back our enemies; through your
name we trample our foes. I do not trust in my bow, my
sword does not bring me victory; but you give us victory
over our enemies, you put our adversaries to shame. In
God we make our boast all day long, and we will praise
your name forever." (Psalm 44:4-8 NIV)

"Through your name we trample our foes." I have a
special message for each person reading these words today.
It doesn't matter how old you are, where you live, how
much you have or don't have, or what you may be facing in
your life today, JESUS IS GOING TO LEAD YOU TO VICTORY OVER
YOUR FOES! If your foe is sickness, Jesus is going to
heal you! If your foe is divorce, Jesus is going to
restore your marriage! If your foe is a lack of
finances, Jesus is going to open the windows of Heaven
and pour out an abundance of resources!

If your foe is alcohol, drugs, gambling, food, smoking,
sex, shopping, or any other addiction, Jesus is going to
set you free! If your foe is not having a job, Jesus is
going to get you working. If your foe is your schoolwork,
Jesus is going to help you with your studies. If your
foe is losing weight, Jesus is going to give you the
discipline to lose those extra pounds. If your foe is at
your job, Jesus is going to give you favor and bless you
in the work you do. If your foe is transportation, Jesus
is going to get you new transportation.

If your foe is fear, Jesus is going to give you courage.
If your foe is despair, Jesus is going to give you hope.
If your foe is anger, Jesus is going to give you peace.
If your foe is depression, Jesus is going to give you
joy. If your foe is hatred, Jesus is going to give you
love. If your foe is unforgiveness, Jesus is going to
give you a forgiving heart. If your foe is worry, Jesus
is going to give you that calm assurance. If your foe
is death, Jesus has come to give you life everlasting.
My friend, whatever your foe may be, JESUS IS GOING TO
LEAD YOU TO VICTORY OVER YOUR FOES!

I want to give you a word of encouragement today. You can
either let the problems of life defeat you, or you can let
the giver of life defeat your problems. I know too many
of you missed that one so one more time. You can either
let the problems of life defeat you, or you can let the
giver of life defeat your problems. You see my friend,
God's Word tells us that the "battle is the Lord's."
God's Word promises us that at the name of Jesus our
enemies will be defeated. It is time for you to quit
going through life like you have are defeated when the
Bible proclaims that because of Jesus you are the victor!

The problem for many of you however, especially those
who by the world's standards are "successful," is that
you put too much trust in yourself and not enough trust
in the Lord. I am going to give you a glimpse into my
past life for a minute. One of the things that led to my
rebellion against God during the '80s was the fact He
blessed me abundantly at a very young age and I used the
wonderful gifts and talents God gave me to build my own
kingdom instead of building His Kingdom. You see, I
became dependent on MY wisdom and abilities to get things
done and left God out of the picture. When you are
successful in this world, it is easy to get to a place
where you think you don't have to depend on God or
anyone else but yourself. It is only a matter of time
before your world begins to crumble when you are on
the throne.

That is why God's Word tells us over and over to not
trust in our own understanding, to not trust in man, but
to trust in the Lord. Joshua was a mighty military man.
He understood the art of war. I have no doubt that he
had a great plan for taking down the walls of Jericho.
But when it came time to take that city, it was NOT the
wisdom of Joshua that took down the walls of Jericho, it
was the plan of God! It is not your bow or your sword
that is going to give you victory over your enemies, it
is the name of the LORD!

I love you and care about you so much. I pray today that
you will be encouraged by this message and realize that
Jesus has already defeated your foes, whoever and
whatever they may be. The reality is, today, this very
moment, you are in the middle of whatever battles you are
fighting in your life. You are probably weary of
fighting, wondering where God is, and can't see how you
will ever get victory. THAT IS WHY GOD IS SENDING THIS
MESSAGE TO YOU TODAY! It is like the cavalry coming over
the hill with their trumpets blasting!

God wants you to know that He has not forsaken you and
that if you will simply trust in the name of the Lord, it
is the name of JESUS that is going to give you victory
over your enemies and put your adversaries to shame!!!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller
